pdp - AMANTADINE HYDROCHLORIDE is useful in the treatment of Parkinson's Syndrome and in the short-term management of drug-induced extrapyramidal symptoms. How is it administered?
Parkinson's: Initially 100 mg/day, increasing to 100 mg BID. Max 400 mg/day. Influenza A: Adults 200 mg/day (single or split dose). Adjust for renal impairment. Withdraw gradually.

Contraindications

Do not discontinue abruptly (risk of Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome). Monitor for suicidality, psychosis, impulse control disorders, seizures, and peripheral edema. May impair driving skills.
