What is RIVA-CLOPIDOGREL used for?
RIVA-CLOPIDOGREL (clopidogrel bisulfate) is indicated for the secondary prevention of atherothrombotic events (myocardial infarction, stroke and vascular death) in patients with atherosclerosis documented by stroke, myocardial infarction, or established peripheral arterial disease. It is also indicated in combination with acetylsalicylic acid (ASA), for the early and long-term secondary prevention of atherothrombotic events in patients with acute coronary syndromes – without ST segment elevation. For patients with ST-segment elevation acute myocardial infarction, clopidogrel bisulfate has been shown to reduce the rate of an endpoint of all-cause mortality and the rate of a combined endpoint of death, re-infarction or stroke. In patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) who have at least one risk factor for vascular events, who are not suitable for treatment with an anticoagulant and who have a low risk of bleeding, RIVA-CLOPIDOGREL in combination with low-dose ASA is indicated for the prevention of atherothrombotic and thromboembolic events, including stroke.
