What is VANCOCIN used for?
VANCOCIN® (vancomycin hydrochloride capsules) is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible strains of designated microorganisms in staphylococcal enterocolitis and antibiotic associated pseudomembranous colitis produced by Clostridium difficile. Parenteral administration of vancomycin is not effective for the indicated conditions; therefore VANCOCIN® must be given orally. VANCOCIN® is not effective by the oral route for the treatment of other types of infection.
