How is it administered?
Usual oral daily dose: 0.5 to 2.0 mg (single dose). If response is inadequate, repeat at 4-5 hour intervals. Max 10 mg/day. Intermittent schedule (e.g., 3-4 days on, 1-2 days off) recommended.

Contraindications

Potent diuretic; excessive amounts lead to profound water/electrolyte depletion. Risk of ototoxicity, hypokalemia, and asymptomatic hyperuricemia. Banned for use in sports (dope testing).
