What is TEVA-PREDNISONE used for?
Prednisone is indicated for various endocrine disorders such as primary or secondary adrenocortical insufficiency, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, nonsuppurative thyroiditis, and hypercalcemia associated with cancer. It is also used as adjunctive therapy for short-term administration in rheumatic disorders including psoriatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, bursitis, tenosynovitis, gouty arthritis, post-traumatic osteoarthritis, synovitis of osteoarthritis, and epicondylitis. Furthermore, it is used for collagen diseases like systemic lupus erythematosus, acute rheumatic carditis, systemic dermatomyositis (polymyositis), polymyalgia rheumatica, giant cell arthritis, various dermatologic diseases such as pemphigus, bullous dermatitis herpetiformis, severe erythema multiforme (Stevens-Johnson syndrome), exfoliative dermatitis, mycosis fungoides, severe psoriasis, and various allergic states, ophthalmic diseases, respiratory diseases, hematologic disorders, neoplastic diseases, edematous states, gastrointestinal diseases, acute exacerbations of multiple sclerosis, organ transplantation, and miscellaneous conditions like tuberculous meningitis and trichinosis with neurological or myocardial involvement.
