What is ZYVOXAM used for?
ZYVOXAM (linezolid injection and powder for oral suspension) is indicated for: Treatment of adult patients with Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococcus faecium (VREF) Infections, Nosocomial pneumonia, Community-acquired pneumonia, Complicated skin and skin structure infections, and Uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections. It is not indicated for the treatment of Gram-negative infections.

How is it administered?
600 mg IV or oral q12h for most infections; 400 mg oral q12h for uncomplicated skin infections. Duration 10-28 days. IV infusion over 30-120 minutes. May be taken with or without food.

Store reconstituted suspension at room temperature (15 - 30 ° C). Use within 21 days after reconstitution.

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to linezolid; use of MAOIs within 2 weeks. Unless monitored: uncontrolled hypertension, pheochromocytoma, thyrotoxicosis, carcinoid syndrome, or use of serotonergic/vasopressive agents.
Warnings and precautions
Myelosuppression (monitor CBC weekly), lactic acidosis, serotonin syndrome, peripheral/optic neuropathy (especially >28 days), CDAD, and rhabdomyolysis. Not for Gram-negative infections.
