What is ZEPBOUND KWIKPEN used for?
ZEPBOUND KwikPen (tirzepatide injection) is indicated for once-weekly administration for chronic weight management, including weight loss and weight maintenance, as an adjunct to a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, in adults with an initial body mass index (BMI) of: • 30 kg/m² or greater (obesity) or • 27 kg/m² to less than 30 kg/m² (overweight) in the presence of at least one weight-related comorbid condition (e.g., hypertension, dyslipidemia, prediabetes, type 2 diabetes mellitus, obstructive sleep apnea, or cardiovascular disease). Limitations of Use • Coadministration with other tirzepatide-containing products (e.g., Mounjaro®) or with any glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist is not recommended. • The safety and efficacy of ZEPBOUND KwikPen in combination with other products intended for weight management, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs, and herbal preparations, have not been established.
Authorized indication as written in the Health Canada product monograph. For healthcare professionals and licensed purchasers; this is not medical advice.
How much does Tirzepatide cost around the world?
Tirzepatide is listed on 8 of the national price registers Nexara ingests. Each country publishes on a different basis, so figures are not comparable with one another — or with a Canadian wholesale price.
What a market publishes matters more than the number it publishes. Bahrain publishes a retail (max); Greece publishes a producer price (ex-factory); Hungary publishes a producer price (ex-factory). Comparing an ex-factory ceiling against a pharmacy public price tells you nothing about either, and comparing either against a Canadian landed cost tells you less.
| Market | Price basis published there | Brands | Packs listed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bahrain | retail (max) | 2 | 18 |
| Greece | producer price (ex-factory) | 18 | 18 |
| Saudi Arabia | public | 2 | 12 |
| United Arab Emirates | public | 11 | 11 |
| South Africa | single exit price | 10 | 10 |
| Italy | prezzo al pubblico (classe A) | 6 | 6 |
| Luxembourg | reimbursement | 4 | 4 |
| Hungary | producer price (ex-factory) | 2 | 2 |
81 pack listings across 55 brand entries and 6 price bases, refreshed 05 Sep 2026. Ranges span every Tirzepatide pack in that market, so a high figure is usually a larger pack rather than the same product.
Canada publishes no comparable public list price. For a delivered Canadian price on a licensed account, verify your licence — it takes about a minute.
Is there a generic Tirzepatide in Canada, and who makes it?
Every market authorization holder with a Canadian DIN for this molecule, and how many of their listings Health Canada currently shows as marketed.
Only one market authorization holder has a Canadian DIN containing Tirzepatide — 24 DINs, of which 18 are currently marketed. There is no second Canadian source today, so a supply interruption on this holder has no domestic substitute at the same molecule.

Health Canada’s Drug Product Database does not flag which listing is the originator and which are subsequent-entry products, so Nexara does not label them here. Interchangeability is determined provincially, not federally — confirm for your province before a formulary switch. Nexara can confirm which of these is actually obtainable, and on what lead time, per order.
How is it supplied and stored?
Pack configuration, storage class and the handling constraints that drive cold-chain planning. One DIN can cover more than one pack size, and the pack — not the DIN — is what gets priced, shipped and invoiced.

How is it administered?
The recommended starting dosage of ZEPBOUND KwikPen is 2.5 mg injected subcutaneously once weekly. After 4 weeks, increase the dosage to 5 mg injected subcutaneously once weekly. The 2.5 mg dosage is for treatment initiation. If additional weight management is needed, increase the dosage in 2.5 mg increments after at least 4 weeks on the current dose. The recommended maintenance dosages of ZEPBOUND KwikPen in adults are 5 mg, 10 mg, or 15 mg injected subcutaneously once weekly. The maximum dosage of ZEPBOUND KwikPen is 15 mg injected subcutaneously once weekly. Administer ZEPBOUND KwikPen once weekly at any time of day, with or without meals. ZEPBOUND KwikPen should not be administered daily. Inject ZEPBOUND KwikPen subcutaneously in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. Rotate injection sites with each dose. ZEPBOUND KwikPen should not be administered intramuscularly or intravenously. Patients using ZEPBOUND KwikPen go through one pen per month as each pen delivers 4 doses of tirzepatide. The day of weekly administration can be changed, if necessary, as long as the time between the two doses is at least 3 days (72 hours). If a dose is missed, instruct patients to administer ZEPBOUND KwikPen as soon as possible within 4 days (96 hours) after the missed dose. If more than 4 days have passed, skip the missed dose and administer the next dose on the regularly scheduled day. In each case, patients can then resume their regular once weekly dosing schedule.
Included because it drives pack selection and wastage. Consult the monograph.
Contraindications
ZEPBOUND KwikPen is contraindicated: • In patients who are hypersensitive to tirzepatide or to any ingredient in the formulation, including any nonmedicinal ingredient (e.g., benzyl alcohol), or component of the container. • In patients with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or in patients with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2). • During pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Warnings and precautions
Serious Warnings and Precautions: RISK OF THYROID C-CELL TUMORS • Tirzepatide causes dose-dependent and treatment-duration-dependent thyroid C-cell tumors (adenomas and carcinomas) at clinically relevant exposures in male and female rats. It is unknown whether ZEPBOUND KwikPen causes thyroid C-cell tumors, including medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) in humans. The human relevance of tirzepatide-induced rodent thyroid C-cell tumors has not been determined. • ZEPBOUND KwikPen is contraindicated in patients with a personal or family history of MTC and in patients with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2). It is unknown whether monitoring with serum calcitonin or thyroid ultrasound will mitigate human risk of thyroid C-cell tumors. Patients should be counseled regarding the risk and symptoms of thyroid tumors. General Warnings: • Coadministration with other tirzepatide-containing products (e.g., Mounjaro) or with any glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist is not recommended. • In patients with type 2 diabetes, an increased risk of hypoglycemia was seen with concomitant use of a sulfonylurea with ZEPBOUND KwikPen. When initiating ZEPBOUND KwikPen, consider reducing the dose of concomitantly administered insulin secretagogues (e.g., sulfonylureas) or insulin to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia. • Tirzepatide causes an increase in heart rate. Caution should be observed in patients who have cardiac conditions that might be worsened by an increase in heart rate. • There is no therapeutic experience in patients with congestive heart failure New York Heart Association (NYHA) class IV. • Use of ZEPBOUND KwikPen has been associated with gastrointestinal adverse reactions, sometimes severe. Severe gastrointestinal adverse reactions were reported more frequently among patients receiving tirzepatide injection (2.7%) than placebo (1.2%). • ZEPBOUND KwikPen has not been studied in patients with severe gastrointestinal disease, including severe gastroparesis, and is therefore not recommended in these patients. Monitor and consider dose modification or discontinuation in patients who develop severe gastrointestinal symptoms while on treatment. • Events related to malnutrition have been reported, including severe, in patients receiving ZEPBOUND KwikPen. Nutritional guidance and, as needed, supplementation or support, should be considered. Discontinuation should be considered for severe or persistent cases. • Treatment with ZEPBOUND KwikPen and GLP-1 receptor agonists is associated with an increased occurrence of acute gallbladder disease. If cholecystitis is suspected, gallbladder diagnostic studies and appropriate clinical follow-up are indicated. • Acute pancreatitis has been observed in patients treated with GLP-1 receptor agonists. If pancreatitis is suspected, ZEPBOUND KwikPen should be discontinued and appropriate management initiated; if confirmed, ZEPBOUND KwikPen should not be restarted. ZEPBOUND KwikPen has not been evaluated in patients with a prior history of pancreatitis and should be used with caution in these patients. • Hypersensitivity reactions have been reported with ZEPBOUND KwikPen in clinical trials. There have been postmarketing reports of serious hypersensitivity reactions (e.g. anaphylactic reactions and angioedema) in patients treated with tirzepatide. If hypersensitivity reactions occur, discontinue use of ZEPBOUND KwikPen; treat promptly per standard of care, and monitor until signs and symptoms resolve. Do not use in patients with a previous hypersensitivity to tirzepatide or any of the excipients in ZEPBOUND KwikPen, or component of the container. • Anaphylaxis and angioedema have been reported with GLP-1 receptor agonists. Use ZEPBOUND KwikPen with caution in patients with a history of angioedema or anaphylaxis with a GLP-1 receptor agonist or related products because it is unknown whether such patients will be predisposed to anaphylaxis with ZEPBOUND KwikPen. • Rapid improvement in glucose c

Names are taken from national medicine registers and published price lists. A product registered abroad is not authorized for sale in Canada unless it holds its own DIN; import is possible only through the routes Health Canada permits.
What is Tirzepatide called in other languages?
Buyers, prescribers and procurement teams outside Canada often search for the ingredient in their own script. These are phonetic renderings of the ingredient name Tirzepatide, published to help those searches reach this page.

How can I get it?
Nexara Health supplies this product to licensed Canadian buyers — pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, licensed distributors, and clinical trial sponsors or their CROs. We confirm stock, pack size, expiry and pricing at the time of quotation. If the product is on backorder or in shortage, we identify equivalent alternatives and import options where permitted.
Ordering questions
Who can buy this from Nexara?
Licensed entities only. Nexara holds Health Canada establishment licence DEL 3-002896-A and ships only to a licensed address. Patients and unlicensed buyers are routed to a partner pharmacy.
Is there a minimum order?
Yes, set per product line and per pack multiple rather than on the order total, so you are never asked to buy a part-pack. The minimum for this line is confirmed with your quote.
What is the lead time?
Confirmed per order at quotation, and it depends on current stock position and whether the product is in shortage.
Why is there no price on this page?
Nexara quotes a delivered Canadian price per order, against a verified licence. Foreign list prices are published on incompatible bases and are not a guide to what any buyer can obtain here, so this page shows which markets list the molecule and on what basis, and nothing more.
Can Nexara supply this for a clinical trial?
Yes — comparator and background-therapy supply, including sourcing from other markets where a Canadian pack will not satisfy the protocol. Clinical trial supply.
