What is DOM-PRAVASTATIN used for?
Dom-PRAVASTATIN is indicated as an adjunct to diet for the reduction of elevated Total and Low Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol (LDL-C) levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia (Types IIa and IIb), when the response to diet and other non-pharmacologic measures alone has been inadequate. In hypercholesterolemic patients without clinically evident coronary heart disease, Dom-PRAVASTATIN is indicated to reduce the risk of myocardial infarction, myocardial revascularization procedures, and total mortality by reducing cardiovascular deaths. In patients with total cholesterol in the normal to moderately elevated range who have clinically evident coronary heart disease, Dom-PRAVASTATIN is indicated to reduce the risk of total mortality, death due to coronary heart disease, myocardial infarction, myocardial revascularization procedures, stroke and transient ischemic attack (TIA), and total hospitalization.
