Sufentanil Citrate Injection USP (sufentanil) is indicated for intravenous administration as a primary anesthetic agent for induction and maintenance of balanced general anesthesia with 100% oxygen in patients undergoing major surgical procedures, or as an analgesic adjunct at doses up to 8 mcg/kg in the maintenance of balanced general anesthesia for major surgical procedures. It is also indicated for epidural administration for the postoperative management of pain following general surgery, thoracic or orthopedic procedures and cesarean section, and as an analgesic adjunct to epidural bupivacaine during labour and vaginal delivery.
