How is it administered?
Adults/children: up to 1 mg daily. Maintenance: 0.1-0.8 mg daily depending on age/condition. Administered IM, SC, or IV (must be diluted for IV use).

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity; untreated cobalamin deficiency; neonates (contains benzyl alcohol); patients with impaired renal function or premature neonates with immature kidneys.

Rule out B12 deficiency before use; folic acid can mask pernicious anemia. Contains benzyl alcohol (risk of gasping syndrome in neonates) and aluminum (risk of toxicity in renal impairment).
