Hypersensitivity to meperidine; GI obstruction; acute asthma/COPD; respiratory depression; acute alcoholism; convulsive disorders; head injury; use of MAO inhibitors within 14 days.

Risk of addiction, abuse, misuse; life-threatening respiratory depression; neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome; risks with concomitant use of benzodiazepines or alcohol.
